Frequently Asked Questions

What should I bring to my 1st Appointment?

IF you are a new client, I will need Drivers License of Taxpayer/Spouse. Social Security Cards of Taxpayer/Spouse and All Dependents.  Social Security cards and Birth Certificates of qualifying grandchildren.  And of course, All Tax forms for current year filing and/or prior year forms/transcripts.

Do you offer advance loans?

Yes, I do!!!  At no charge to you, you can get $250-$1000 a few days after you file.  For a small interest fee to EPS Financial, you can apply for more with bank approval.

Should I do my taxes myself?

There are benefits to hiring a tax professional, despite the cost. For one thing, a professional can help you avoid claiming the wrong deductions – a mistake that could get your return audited and lead to a hassle. A tax professional might also help you identify deductions you may not have known you were entitled to.

How do I know which Tax Preparer is right for me?

Does your tax preparer return your calls? Do you feel comfortable asking them a question? Do you feel heard? Do they make you feel like you're NOT just a number? With the right tax professional, the answers should be a resounding "Yes!"

Should my Tax Preparer be certified?

Absolutely! Your Tax Preparer should be up to date on all laws and certifications.

What fraud signs should I look for?

Be aware of scammers, who can become more active during tax season. They will attempt to mislead people about tax refunds, credits and payments. They pressure people for personal, financial, employment information or money.

Watch out for:

  • A big payday. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Bad tax advice on social media may convince people to lie on tax forms or mislead them about credits they can claim.
  • Demands or threats. Impersonators want people to pay “now or else.” They threaten arrest or deportation. Not allowing you to question them.
  • Odd or misspelled website links. Odd or misspelled web links can take people to harmful sites instead of IRS.gov
